Construction of the Geelong Media Education Centre The Geelong Media Education Centre is being developed at 68-70 Little Ryrie Street in Geelong, to create a dynamic and sustainable community enterprise using media as a platform to provide employment, training and advocacy opportunities for the region, with a focus on young people, people with disabilities and culturally and linguistically diverse participants. The project includes the redevelopment of the facility entrance and the community hub, the construction of two additional training rooms and a film and television studio, the appointment of two coordinators and the development and implementation of a range of appropriate programs and activities. The existing Pulse community radio station will also be upgraded to enhance its current Broadcast Training opportunities.
Managed by Diversitat, this exciting project has received a development grant from the Federal Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government to assist with the initial establishment. Further funds are being sought from Community Partners to ensure the on –going success of this regional enterprise.
With full construction and fit out scheduled for completion by mid 2009 the Film and Television training courses are already attracting enormous interest from potential students and training organizations. |
