The G-MEC aims to be the premier regional production house and training centre in broadcast multimedia – “hands on” learning in radio, television, film and providing innovative content and training services responsive to the changing needs of the community.

Training Programs

Certificate II in Creative Industries (Media)

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a range of mainly routine tasks in the creative industry sectors, work under direct supervision, and use limited practical skills and fundamental operational knowledge in a defined context. It is, in essence, a preparatory qualification that can be used as a pathway into CUF30107 Certificate III in Media.

Job roles

This qualification allows learners to develop skills and knowledge to prepare for work.
Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include:

  • Community Radio Production Assistant
  • Community Television Production Assistant.

Certificate III in Media

This qualification reflects the role of a skilled operator in the film, television, radio or digital media industries who applies a broad range of competencies in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge. They may provide technical advice and support to a team.

Job roles

Job roles and titles vary across different industry sectors.
Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include:

  • Archival media technician
  • Camera/lighting assistant
  • Community radio program maker/presenter
  • Editing assistant
  • Interactive media author assistant
  • Production assistant

Certificate IV in Screen & Media

Screen mediaThis qualification reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base in a wide variety of contexts in the film, television, and digital media industries. They apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others.

  • Animator
  • Archival Media Specialist
  • Camera/Lighting Operator
  • Digital Artist
  • Production Coordinator

Diploma of Music Industry (Technical Production)

This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to work in the music industry as either an employee or set up your own business/studio. You will learn skills to develop current music industry practices in the areas of studio recording and maintenance, live sound, music technology, music production, music arrangement and repairing/maintaining equipment. A hands-on approach which focuses on practical tasks is used to develop a solid grounding in this field.
